Mother Tongue Languages
Your child will need to learn a Mother Tongue Language (MTL) as a second language in school.
Mother Tongue Language (MTL)
Students of Chinese, Malay and Indian ethnicities will generally study their respective Mother Tongue Languages (MTLs).
Students registered with a double-barrelled race will be assigned an MTL based on the first component of their race. Parents who wish for their child to study an MTL based on the second component may apply through the school.
Students who are Eurasian or of other races, and whose mother tongue is not one of the official MTLs, may request to study Chinese Language, Malay Language or Tamil Language, subject to approval.
Parents who wish to apply for an MTL different from the one assigned to their child, or for a Non-Tamil Indian Language (NTIL), should contact the school for further information and application procedures.
